effectiveness of the practices in promoting diversity.

Hello Dr. Langevin and Classmates,

Government Organization

In this week?s assignment, the government organization I chose is
Comprehensive Case Management & Employment Program (CCMEP) is a
government federal program that is run through the Hamilton County Job
& Family Services (HCJFS). It has served over 2,500 young adult
youth since July 1, 2016. . This program is designed to help 14 to
24-year-olds find a new way to work. The CCMEP is an integrated
intervention program that combines the Temporary Assistance for Needy
Families (TANF) Program and the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act
(WIOA) Youth Program.

Diversity and Two Approaches in the Workplace

Diversity and competent workers is vital to the workplace. Diversity
refers to differences in underlying attributes in an organizations, for
instances, Londen (1996) defines diversity as the important human
characteristics that affect individuals? values, opportunities, and
perceptions of self and others at work. Also, Konrad, Prasad, and
Pringle (2006) advocate a definition of diversity that emphasizes
intergroup interaction and is inclusive of power differences rather than
focusing on individual differences.

The Human Resources have only two major roles, which is Equal employment opportunity (EEO) and affirmative actions.
Both laws came into existence in 1964 and are design to employ women
and minorities into the workplace. The management process consist of
more than just compliance with laws, management processes of diversity
consists of a monitor compliance with government regulations and recruiting best talent for the workplace.

The Effectiveness of the Practices in Promoting Diversity

Engaging
employees at all levels is the most effective way to reach critical
mass and communicate the import of diversity and inclusion. It is
important to let employees know that there are many ways to contribute
and support diversity. For example,

  • Know the diversity goals and vision of your organization and its connection to the overall business objectives
  • Develop programs that promote appreciation of cultural differences
  • Actively engage in the diversity effort
  • Hold managers accountable for valuing diversity
  • Welcome ideas that are different from your own, and support fellow teammates.

Overall,
organizations that promote diversity will be able to attract and retain
the best employers. The difference between success and failing in
recruiting in the HR department is founding the best talent for the
organization therefore that will allow the company to get a completive
advantage over other companies.
