Group mini-project using Bloomberg Terminal (distributed October 18/19, 2017)

-All student are required to familiarize themselves with extracting data from the Bloomberg teriminal. These terminals are available both at the Manhattan Trading Room (5th floor, 26 W. 61th street) and the Old Westbury Library. Please ask for help from the Reference Librarian an either location. There are student-friendly user manuals also available at each terminal in both locations.

-Choose two publicly traded companies. (Target & Carrefour)

-Submit names of your firms next class period. The choice of firms is on a first-come basis since firms cannot be duplicated among different groups.

-Next, collect six data points of each firms’s end of year common stock prices at the closing data of DEC 31th, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016

-Extract data on the total amount of dividends paid each year – past five years (2012-2016)

-Calculate the Capital Gains Yield (CYG), The Dividend Yield(DY), and the Total Yield (TY) for each firm during 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016

-present the above results in a table

-Submit a three pages paper on your findings, which must include a comparison between the performance of domestic and foreign companies within an industry
