Module 1 – SLP
The production of solid wastes in the United States is growing both in volume and toxicity. More and more of the products discarded every day contain toxic chemicals or otherwise hazardous substances that have the potential to eventually impact public health and the environment.
You are employed by your local public health department and are being asked to prepare a document that justifies the necessity of proper handling of hazardous wastes and keeping hazardous wastes out of the solid waste stream in your community. Write a paper in which you do the following:
- Discuss what may constitute improper practices for the disposal of trash (solid wastes), particularly hazardous wastes.
- Describe the human health problems that could occur if trash (solid wastes), particularly hazardous waste, is improperly disposed of in your community.
Be sure to justify your opinion with evidence from the literature.
Please be sure to provide at least citations of sources consulted in preparing your paper in the body of the actual document itself (i.e., in addition to furnishing a reference list). Remember, any statement that you make that is not common knowledge or that originates from your synthesis or interpretation of materials you have read must have a citation associated with it.
