This article parallels the contents of chapter 13 on substance abuse (particularly pages 433-435). After reading the article, write a journal entry in which you consider and discuss the following questions:

1. How do the social problems of substance abuse differ in urban vs. rural areas?
2. Recall what you learned about social capital in chapter 9 earlier in the course. Discuss the findings of social capital and networks as an integral part of the substance abuse problems in rural areas.
3. In your opinion, is the substance abuse problem of rural or urban areas more difficult to address. Defend your answer.
