- In examining the role of the individual, the community and the global world, this course will focus on three topic areas: 1. the meaning of labor and work (free/unfree, sustainable/unsustainable, access to economic opportunity, degree of available support systems to protect workers); 2. the role of belief structures in shaping actions and worldviews (religion, philosophy, science, ideology); and the dynamics of power (who has access to power and who doesn?t, based on gender, socio-economic class, race, religion, sexuality, ethno-linguistic identity, age, education, etc).
