In my mind perception, generalization, and a stereotype are similar because they are all descriptions of how we view the world around us. But that is where the similarity ends. I think their differences lie in the amount of information that goes into them that view of the world. Their uses have varied ethical implications, which I think are situational dependent. A stereotype is a very broad view. In some situations, they may be true, but stereotypes tend not to rely on facts. They can be formed with very little or no factual information. As a result I think acting upon a stereotype is most likely to fall in the unethical realm. An example might be with an organization that views poor people as less intelligent because they go to public schools. Denying poor people to their organization would be an unethical use of a stereotype.
